Glenn Branca–Remembered

The punk legend that influenced Sonic Youth (who influenced nearly every other so called alternative rock band after them) is sadly gone today, but never forgotten. The masterful composer, conductor, and guitarist took guitar musicianship, playing, music, rock, and classical music to new levels formerly yet unheard before. He will forever be remembered, studied, and loved.

Punk publisher Adam Parfrey (Feral House) has died. He was 61.

Lil Peep

The new video for “Four Gold Chains,” the new track from Lil Peep, premiered yesterday on the main stage at Rolling Loud Festival and is now available on all digital service providers including free on You Tube. The track features Clams Casino and debuted last night in between the sets of Post Malone, one of Peep’s friends, and Future, one of his greatest influences.

Peep originally announced his collaboration on November 15th, 2017, the day of his passing, and the track was officially announced on Peep’s Twitter account last night. “Four Gold Chains” is the first of Lil Peep’s solo work to drop posthumously and follows “Spotlight,” the collaboration released earlier this year with Marshmello.

The cover art was designed by longtime collaborator, Robot Snake (“Honestly,” “Girls,” and “Beamer Boy”). The video, one of the last made by Peep, in its rawness and simplicity, shows Gus’ vulnerability as he performs for the camera walking down the streets of London in a single shot. “Four Gold Chains” continues in keeping the promise to all Peep fans that the music and videos he planned on releasing will be delivered to them.

An Exclusive Interview with Michael Shawn Hartman

Michael Shawn Hartman

While other classmates were busy collecting spiders and baseball cards, a young Michael Shawn was busy jamming. The Singer Songwriter, and Musician, who Hollywood Sentinel hails as “The next Johnny Cash,” began playing guitar at the young age of 9 years old. A second generation guitar player, music and a guitar was literally handed down to the young, future performer, growing up with his mother–also a singer and songwriter– performing on stage. With a guitar always in the corner, his older brother, who also played guitar, would tell him to pick up the instrument, and teach him how to play. “You’ll know you get it right,” his older brother told him, “When all of your fingers are bleeding!”

Having learned how to play 500 songs in the band “Step In Country” Michael was later invited to play a benefit concert back in 2010, and by this time had written 65 songs of his own. He later called up his old bass player, and the rest is history. Living just an hour drive from Niagara Falls, Michael Shawn was raised in the country– and raised on country. Citing Elvis, Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, George Strait, Dolly Parton, and Merle Haggard among some of his favorite singers and influences, Michael Shawn’s roots go deep, and one can hear his genuine soul and power in each song.

When asked what his life philosophy is, Michael admits, “My philosophy is don’t take advantage of people, and be comfortable with everything around me. I try be the fairest I can to everybody.”

“Country music makes me happy when I hear it. It makes me feel good. I want to do the same for people. I want to make people happy and feel good with my music.”
