I was totally shocked at what a friend told me. I was shopping in a local market earlier this week, and he complained how he was still having difficulty getting certain products delivered to him. “Those cookies right there,” he said, pointing to some cookies. “They told me they are going to stop shipping them!”
I looked over at the all-natural, vegan, non-GMO cookies and thought of how good they are, which I had before. I try to limit my consumption of sweets and extra sugar, but I was thinking to myself, “Mmm, those sure are good! I’d like to have them again! Maybe I should buy all the rest of them in case I can’t get them for a while! How many are there? ( I counted). It looks like about six packages left! That would be kind of greedy to get them all. Maybe I should just get one. Or two packages? No. I have to stick to my goals. I have to have willpower. Maybe he’s just telling me this to try sell me more cookies?! LOL. No, he’s not like that. He’s not a salesman,” I thought.
“Why are they going to stop shipping them?!” I asked disturbed. “Because, they said they can’t get the bags anymore,” he said. “The bags?” I asked. “You see the bags they are in? Those bags, the bags they come in!” he said. I replied, “You mean to tell me they are going to stop shipping the cookies because they can’t get the bags anymore?” “That’s what they said!” He replied. Now I was really disturbed. “Oh my gosh, that’s stupid!” I said. “You can get bags anywhere!” I continued. “You have bags right here! There are bags everywhere!” “I don’t know” he went on, “It’s how they are set up or something. They have to have those bags, and they can’t get em’ anymore.” “That’s crazy,” I replied. “I’d throw em’ in anything! Nobody cares what they’re in! They could just send them in the plastic bag (inside the paper bag they come in). People give up to easy!” I told him as I left with my groceries—and no cookies in hand.
Success coach Brian Tracy states in his book Personal Success in discussing winners of horse races, that “the difference between the winners and the losers, the famous champions and the has-beens who are forgotten to history, is only about 3 percent in the critical areas.” That’s incredible!
One does not have to be twice as good, or even 20 percent better than the next person to win at their goal. They merely need to win—to achieve. And the main difference between winners and losers are that losers give up, and winners never even think of quitting.
Elon Musk was once asked in an interview if he thought of giving up with Space X after he failed three times. He stated that the thought of giving up never even crossed his mind! To give up, he said, he would have to be dead or incapacitated! He said it’s not even in the realm of possibility for him to give up! He said that is not how he thinks. And this is how any true winner thinks. They do NOT give up. It is not even an option!
Winners don’t let running out of a paper bag stop their dream or their job. They turn problems and obstacles into opportunities. They look at difficulties head on and charge—full steam ahead. They don’t make excuses. They don’t allow for defeat. They count failures as just another step closer to success. They don’t blame others. They take responsibility for their own life and their own success. They never quit. They never surrender, and they never—ever give up!
What is your top goal in life? Have you given up at it? Did you let someone kill the dream inside you? Did you run away from success right when it was before you ready to be had? What are you going to do about it? Don’t die with your music still inside you! Don’t die with your dreams unrealized and un-met! You have one chance here and now to go for it. To give it your all. To make it happen! What are you waiting for? Seize the day NOW and go for it!
Be a winner! Be a Champion.
