The punk legend that influenced Sonic Youth (who influenced nearly every other so called alternative rock band after them) is sadly gone today, but never forgotten. The masterful composer, conductor, and guitarist took guitar musicianship, playing, music, rock, and classical music to new levels formerly yet unheard before. He will forever be remembered, studied, and loved.
Punk publisher Adam Parfrey (Feral House) has died. He was 61.
Lil Peep
The new video for “Four Gold Chains,” the new track from Lil Peep, premiered yesterday on the main stage at Rolling Loud Festival and is now available on all digital service providers including free on You Tube. The track features Clams Casino and debuted last night in between the sets of Post Malone, one of Peep’s friends, and Future, one of his greatest influences.
Peep originally announced his collaboration on November 15th, 2017, the day of his passing, and the track was officially announced on Peep’s Twitter account last night. “Four Gold Chains” is the first of Lil Peep’s solo work to drop posthumously and follows “Spotlight,” the collaboration released earlier this year with Marshmello.
The cover art was designed by longtime collaborator, Robot Snake (“Honestly,” “Girls,” and “Beamer Boy”). The video, one of the last made by Peep, in its rawness and simplicity, shows Gus’ vulnerability as he performs for the camera walking down the streets of London in a single shot. “Four Gold Chains” continues in keeping the promise to all Peep fans that the music and videos he planned on releasing will be delivered to them.
Wallows
Rock band Wallows made their television debut on The Late Late Show with James Corden this month, performing their single “Pictures of Girls.” The late-night host exclaimed “Oh my God. Remember where you saw them,” calling their performance “so great.” “Pictures of Girls” is the lead single from the trio’s debut EP Spring, recently released via Atlantic Records and recorded with Grammy award-winning producer John Congleton.
